Is silicone silicone rubber?

Silica gel is actually a granular porous silica hydrate, which is produced by adding acid to sodium silicate and then washing and drying it. It is mainly used as a desiccant and an adsorbent in column chromatography and thin layer chromatography. Although it is called "glue", it is actually a solid with a transparent or milky appearance.

Silicone rubber is a polymer between organic and inorganic. Its chemical formula is [-R2SiO-]n, and its R = methyl, phenyl and other organic groups. These materials are composed of an inorganic silicon-oxygen bond skeleton (...-Si-O-Si-O-Si-O-...) and branched organic groups bonded to silicon atoms by covalent bonds. By controlling the length of the skeleton, the type of organic groups and the cross-linking of the skeleton, silicone polymers with different properties can be obtained, from liquid silicone oil to soft and elastic silicone gel, silicone rubber and rigid silicone resin. The most common type is linear polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS, a silicone oil). The second most common type of silicone material is based on the molecular morphology of silicone based on dendritic or cage-like silicon-oxygen bonds. Silicone rubber is sometimes referred to simply as silicone, which is a mistranslation. This is probably where the subject is confused. In fact, silica gel and silicone in English are silicon-containing compounds with different properties and uses.
